Yellowstone 2009

I just got back from camping for about a week in Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks. I took my cousins, Will and Drew, who are both in high school. We left Friday morning and returned Tuesday night. While there, we saw: 3 grizzlies (1 walked in front of our car-I didn't get a picture because it happened so fast); a bald and golden eagle; several grouse; a mating pair of black bears; a black bear with two cubs (while hiking-a nervous situation); tons of bison; tons of elk; and two moose. We hiked about 20 miles or so on various trails. Overall, it was a great trip.

A picture of the black bear. Its cubs were up in a tree, which she soon climbed and brought down. She acted very nervously and aggressive while we were nearby. We couldn't really leave since she was on the path and we were in a narrow area.

A picture of Hidden Falls in Grand Tetons National Park. This is a fun hike around Jenny Lake. You can continue past the falls into Cascade Canyon.

A picture of the bull moose we saw in Cascade Canyon. Hiking back, we had to move off the trail because the bull moose was right next to the trail. Some people say moose are more dangerous than bears.
